Netflix has released the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Official Teaser Trailer and Daniel Craig is back as Personal Investigator Benoit Blanc to solve another thriller murder mystery case.
Fans have been curious about Benoit Blanc’s next case ever since he solved the murder mystery of Harlan Thrombey in Knives Out.

Name of the Knives Out sequel
Instead of naming the movie simply Knives Out 2, writer-director Rian Johnson forwarded a new title to this sequel. The second installment of Knives Out has been titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. This title pays homage to the Beatles’ song “Glass Onion” released in 1968.
Rian Johnson says-
This is all in plain sight from the very start. So, the idea of glass came to me, something that’s clear. I’ll be very honest. I literally got out my iPhone and searched my music library with the word glass. “There’s got to be some good glass songs.” I was like, “Oh, is it a glass fortress? Is it a glass castle? Is it a glass man?” The first thing that came up, because I’m a huge Beatles fan, is ‘Glass Onion.

When tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites some of his nearest and dearest for a getaway on his private Greek island, it soon becomes clear that all is not perfect in paradise. And when someone turns up dead, well, who better than Blanc to peel back the layers of intrigue?
Private Investigator Benoit Blanc will travel to Greece to uncover the mystery behind the murder at a glamorous dinner party.

Daniel Craig will again reprise the role of Benoit Blanc who attends the dinner party thrown by Miles Bron played by Edward Norton of Fight Club fame. The other members of the cast include Jessica Henwick (from The Gray Man), Dave Bautista (from Guardians of the Galaxy), Kate Hudson (from Almost Famous), Madelyn Cline (from Outer Banks), Kathryn Hahn (from Wanda Vision), Janelle Monáe and Leslie Odom Jr. Ethan Hawke is also supposed to make an appearance in an undisclosed role.

Writer-Director Rian Johnson is very much inspired by Agathe Christie and it can be said that Detective Hercule Poirot inspired the character Private Investigator Benoit Blanc. Aside from Christie’s novels, Johnson is also inspired by tropical getaway murder mystery” films like 1982’s Evil Under the Sun, and in particular, 1973’s The Last of Sheila.
Johnson says
There are absolutely some very clear inspirations that I took from it. First of all, it’s structured around a group of friends, or frenemies, who all have a power dynamic with one of their successful friends. It begins with him sending an invitation for them to come and play this murder mystery game at this exotic locale. In The Last of Sheila, it’s on his yacht, and everything ends up going horribly wrong.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Premiere
Before it is released on Netflix, Glass Onion will have its world premiere at the 47th annual Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022.

Netflix says that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be streaming on its platform from December 23, 2022. The Knives Out sequel will also premiere in selected theaters on a date that Netflix has yet to announce.
